Six daring Honda C90 motorcyclists are planned a six-day charity journey that will take them across six nations.
John Haynes and his five companions expect to go 1368 miles in their reliable Hondas and plan to leave at the end of May 2022, if Covid restrictions allow. The tour will begin in Winterton, Lincolnshire, and conclude in Benidorm, Spain.
The Spanish invasion is all about raising money for Scunthorpe’s Lindsey Lodge Hospice, which cared after John’s father Rod Haynes, a speedway star who rode for Scunthorpe and Sheffield Tigers in the 1970s.
John stated, ” “When I informed Dad I was planning to do this when he was in hospice, he just shrugged. But I told him, so I’m going to have to do it right now.
“We took a long time to find six C90s, but we did it. We had to travel a little to get them, but we were able to secure six and have already completed a 60-mile run out.
“I’ve been tinkering with the gearing on mine because they can go 50-55 mph… but only for a short time. However, it didn’t seem to make much of a difference, and I believe we’ll be cruising at around 45 mph.
“We want to go roughly 300 miles per day and camp along the way with gear that we will bring with us.
